  • There’s no doubt that Craigslist is beloved by its users as much for its wealth of data and the free access to most every segment and location featured as its simplicity. Little has changed over the years so far as its layout goes. Well, if you’re one to think it could do with some modernization, and you don’t want to sit idle, waiting for some truly momentous updates, a visit to Clickapost may show you a more pleasing view on the age-old classifieds format. Its theme might take some getting used to, and it’s a bit rough-cut around the edges, but its delivery of higher resolution still imagery and video clips makes up for some shortfalls.

Many users would perhaps enjoy a softer, brighter palette, but leaving that aside (a rainbow of accents interacts with the grayscale), the option to post photos and videos in an interactive fashion is quite complimentary - in numerous settings. Just to name a couple, a tour of a real estate property or to showcase a consumer product are fitting for a quality video and/or photo tour.

Now, there is risk of abuse and deception. This is all but inescapable. But the forum and comments features enable users to publish feedback.

Perhaps the most outstanding difference between Clickapost and Craigslist is the Featured Posts segment, which serves to disrupt the general democratization of the platform. Though listings are free, the juxtaposition of the main menu of categories, generically laid forth, and the Featured Posts near the top of the page strikes me as impinging on the aesthetic exemplified by the benchmark of the industry. Obviously this does not matter very much in the grand scheme of things, at least as far as Clickapost, being a relative newbie, is currently involved in serving the world of classifieds. But it is potentially very irksome.

Moving past the editorial touch the Clickapost homepage, another important point to raise is that much of the service is barren of posts. If you’re seeking a truly immense, Craigslist-like experience, you’d best look to the leader. It’s as simple as that. Nonetheless, Clickapost presents an appreciable alternative. The site’s creators would do well to evolve the exterior. And various odds and ends could use adjusting. It is very much a beta launch at present. To be sure, when all is said and done, any measurable success will depend on its effectiveness with promotion. As it is currently, however, I can imagine it grabbing a good amount of interest among Web users seeking a more in-depth view of any number of things; big, small, expensive or bargain-basement.

Sounds like a good idea, and I can see more people trying to compete with craigslist.com in a more fashionable and updated version. The site design here needs work and it needs to be more easier to navigate around, but overall the concept is good and with some work could pick up. Sometimes simplicity is the best and craigslist is proving it.

Clickapost is what craigslist used to be (only better). I’ve been around for a few years and remember when craigslist would take my listings and post them on his site. I have worked with the creator of clickapost and he is on top of everything in a very quick manner. At the end of the day all I care about is traffic and his site delivers it. I’d like to keep it a secret from other realtors for as long as possible.

If it’s good, it’s only going to stay secret for so long :-)

Well I have seen this site, and I must say it is a very nice site. Although I agree with Craig (Which I actually think is Craig from Craiglist so I’m not surprised he comments weren’t positive) in the sense that people do like craigslist because of it’s simplicity, people also want to get the most out of a site. Each site has it’s niche, and craigslist’s niche seems to be simplicity. Clickapost’s however seems to be Video. After doing some research, I found out that Clickapost is aiming to become a Community based site. I Social Bookmarking for Online Classifieds if you will, which I think it GREAT! Video and a Social Community? If this ends up being they’re NICHE, they will get people to use it regardless. People will still use Criagslist for it’s simplicity, but Clickapost will accomplish they’re mission. Let see if they do. It will be interesting to watch it unfold. It’s nice to see the update the site quite ofter as well. It’s almost like you can see it happening.
